Only One(s) is a multi-channel video installation of the only-child generation in China in which three pairs of dialogues are constructed to interpret a contemporary social phenomenon in China happening among the only-child generation. When a child is born in an urban area in China, s/he will begin a journey as a single-child for the rest of their life. What s/he may lose is the opportunity to experience having siblings, but in exchange, s/he will receive undivided care and attention from their family. This focused care could give the child greater opportunity to succeed compared to a family more than one child. The question is now, how much can one child and one family be influenced by the external society? These only-children are their parent's "only ones" because for their parents, they only have one chance to have and raise child.
